Simarco’s Managing Director, Trevor Scott, wanted to deliver a new customer portal that was feature rich, intuitive to use, and of real benefit to clients. It needed to give clients more control at their fingertips, enabling them to easily book and track their own shipments with real-time tracking, print off labels and upload/download important documents, including C88 and Proof of Delivery.

The challenge was broken down into two key phases.

Phase One:

Build a self-serving portal for customers to book, track and review their deliveries and documentation. Initial soft launch to a small number of customers to gain their feedback.

Phase Two:

General release to all customers with the addition of new features and functions in Q1 of 2021. This includes customs clearance, quoting and financial information.

Simarco decided to partner with industry leaders CocoonFMS, who have extensive skills and experience in supply chain digitalisation. Their revolutionary portal framework could be seamlessly linked to the Simarco transport management and tracking solutions.

Following a series of workshops, CocoonFMS were able to customise and adapt their portal to meet Simarco’s requirements, and in doing so the two businesses have created a new strategic relationship.

The soft launch has been successful. Simarco’s customers have been able to book shipments via the portal, print shipping labels and track the key status up to the proof of delivery.

For Simarco IT Director, Kevin Jezzard, the project was his first significant challenge since joining the company in April 2020. He said: “Finding the right partner for this project was critical; the solution and outcomes were imperative and finding people with industry experience who could understand and transform our vision was essential. From the first meeting to our soft launch, CocoonFMS have proved themselves as the right choice.
